Inconel 800, 800H, and 800HT are part of the Incoloy family of high-performance alloys, primarily composed of nickel, iron, and chromium. These alloys are specifically engineered for high-temperature applications where strength, resistance to oxidation, and resistance to carburization are critical. They are known for their excellent stability and structural integrity in extreme environments, particularly in heat treatment, petrochemical processing, and nuclear applications.
Capillary tubes are long, narrow tubes with very small internal diameters, often used for precise fluid or gas delivery. In high-temperature or corrosive environments, standard materials may fail. That’s where Inconel 800 series capillary tubes come in—offering superior strength, resistance to scaling, and corrosion protection under extreme pressures and temperatures.
While Inconel 800, 800H, and 800HT have similar base compositions (about 30-35% nickel, 19-23% chromium, and balance iron), they differ slightly in their carbon and aluminum/titanium content. Inconel 800H has a higher carbon content (0.05–0.10%) compared to 800, which enhances creep resistance. Inconel 800HT further optimizes the alloy with controlled levels of aluminum and titanium to provide even better performance at elevated temperatures.
One of the most critical features of Inconel 800 series capillary tubes is their excellent thermal stability. These alloys maintain structural strength at temperatures up to 1100°C (2012°F). The 800H and 800HT grades are especially suited for environments where prolonged exposure to high heat would degrade lesser materials. This makes them ideal for furnace components and heat exchangers.
