SS202 U-tubes are a practical choice where customers want a stainless austenitic surface finish and lower nickel content than 300-series grades while retaining good toughness, weldability and cold-working capability. Typical uses include water-cooled heat exchangers, condenser bundles, HVAC coils, kitchen and architectural piping where chloride exposure is limited and service temperatures are not extreme. Sumer Metal offers both seamless and welded SS202 U-tube options and can supply tailored bending (U-bend radii), end-finishing and straight lengths to customer drawings.

In production Sumer Metal conforms tubes to common tube and tube-sheet standards (tested and issued with mill certificates on request) and can supply material to commonly requested specifications such as ASTM A312 / ASME SA-312 and ASTM A269 / A213 for tubing applications. This ensures compatibility with international pressure-equipment and heat-exchanger manufacturing practices.

Chemical control for SS202 focuses on a chromium–manganese–nickel balance that reduces nickel use while keeping an austenitic microstructure; typical composition ranges are Cr ~17–19%, Mn ~7.5–10%, Ni ~4–6%, C ≤0.15% with small amounts of Si, P, S and N. These ranges provide the corrosion resistance and formability expected from a 200-series austenitic grade. (See chemical-composition table below.)
